The Environmental Protection Department will deliver two consecutive lectures on Saturday, introducing the use of technology for better environmental monitoring.
This year's 'Science in the Public Serivice' event features a range of lectures covering different fields. We will be introducing two upcoming lectures on Saturday, 18 October, by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) on how technology can enhance environmental monitoring.
Both lectures will be presented by EPD's Environmental Protection Officer grade staff. The first lecture, 'Enhancing Environmental Impact Assessment with Smart Technologies', will showcase how the EPD utilizes various smart technologies, including data from the 'Hong Kong Environmental Database', to enhance the efficiency and quality of environmental impact assessments and monitoring. The second lecture, 'Development of the Ground-level Air Remote Sensing Monitoring Network (GARNET) by the Environmental Protection Department', will introduce GARNET, a three-dimensional air pollution monitoring network being established by the EPD to collect data for regional air monitoring and analysis, further improving the understanding of pollutant transmission and formation processes.
The lectures will be held on Saturday, 18 October, at 2:30 pm and 3:15 pm, respectively, at the Hong Kong Science Museum Lecture Hall. No advance registration is required, and seating is available on a first-come-first-served basis. Interested parties are reminded to arrive early on the day.
